Polyester Film acts as oxygen and moisture barrier.

Press Release Summary:

Resistant to scuffing and abrasion, Barrialox 1011EG-C1 is printable and transparent and suited for food, healthcare, and industrial packaging applications. Aluminum oxide-coated polyester film exhibits thermal and dimensional stability and withstands Gelbo flex test, which crushes and twists film to test resistance to pinholing and flex-cracking. Film can be used for adhesive or extrusion laminations as well as for regular and standup pouches, pillows, packets, and overwrap.

Toray Plastics (America), Inc. Debuts New Barrialox High-Barrier Transparent Aluminum Oxide-Coated Polyester Film

Robust film resists scuffing and abrasion; printability enhances end user marketing power

North Kingstown, RI (March 21, 2007)-Toray Plastics (America), Inc. introduces to end users and converters advanced new Barrialox 1011EG-C1 transparent, high-oxygen and -moisture- barrier aluminum oxide-coated polyester film that offers the barrier performance, strength, versatility, and marketing appeal required for food, healthcare, and industrial packaging applications. Granola, dried meat snacks, confections, cookies and crackers, microwavable foods, vitamins, and sensitive electronic components, for example, are some of the consumer and industrial goods that can be protected against oxygen and moisture degradation with new Barrialox polyester film. An easy-to-print polyester, Barrialox film also allows end users to create colorful, eye-catching packages that attract consumer attention. New Barrialox film is an excellent alternative to PVdC-coated film and EVOH laminations, it can be used for adhesive or extrusion laminations, and is ideal for regular and standup pouches, pillows, packets, lidding laminations, and overwrap.

"End users and converters seeking a transparent film solution that offers superior barrier protection, is robust and printable, and yet, is competitively priced, can now drive business with new Barrialox polyester film," says Philip Dabbert, business development manager.

Manufactured with Toray's proprietary coating technology, Barrialox 1011EG-C1 polyester film resists scuffing and abrasion, making it a preferred choice over more delicate aluminum oxide-coated films. Barrialox's strength delivers improved handling and makes production easier for converters. As a clear aluminum oxide-coated film, Barrialox enables easy metal detection after filling. Additionally, the new Barrialox film outperforms PVdC-coated polyester, silicon oxide-coated film, and aluminum oxide-coated film, when subjected to the Gelbo flex test, which crushes and twists the film and tests its resistance to pinholing and flex-cracking.

New Barrialox polyester film handles extremely well on high-speed packaging equipment and is easy to convert. It offers excellent thermal stability and superior mechanical properties, including high strength and dimensional stability.
