Keystroke POS Version 5 Released

(Dillon, CO) - Specialized Business Solutions ("SBS"), publisher of the popular Keystroke Point Of Sale software, announced the release of Keystroke POS Version 5. This robust new release features hundreds of powerful new capabilities and is the perfect solution for growing businesses with multiple stores or other advanced requirements.

"Keystroke POS Version 5 is a significantly different product from earlier versions of Keystroke," explained Dana Bargell, Director of Marketing. "Feature-wise, Keystroke POS has always fared well against high-cost solutions. Now with the core enhancements in Version 5 and the introduction of the Keystroke Integration Toolkit, Keystroke can handle even the most demanding retail operations."

Prominent new features in Version 5 include multiple Contact records for each Customer, customizable Transaction Types, an expanded Inventory database including graphic images, enhanced audit and security features, and improved data accessibility features. The Keystroke Integration Toolkit includes a diverse set of specialized software tools designed to expand on the built-in features of Keystroke and to enable seamless integration with third-party systems such as e-commerce, EDI, and hand-held data collectors.

Customer-Contact records can be used for multiple "Ship-To" addresses, or to track sales by family member, employee, vehicle, job, etc. As many as a dozen alternate sales Transaction Types are available including Gift Registry, Special Orders, Rentals, On Hold, and Recurring Charges. Configuration settings allow extensive control over the behavior of each Transaction Type. For example, a standard sales Invoice requires full tender, while a lesser minimum payment percentage can be defined for Layaways.

Keystroke's comprehensive Inventory database now also tracks data such as Average Lead Time, Last Edit Date, and Last Printed Price. Graphic images can also be attached to item records, as well as to customers and other databases. Security Levels have been enhanced to allow easier and better defined configuration. A new Change Password function has been added, as well as advanced Password controls such as Minimum Length, Maximum Attempts, automatic expiration, and improved encryption.

A handy new ShowInfo utility opens the door for many diverse uses. Pressing the ShowInfo hotkey writes data for the active data record to a temporary file. Another program can then read the data and display an image or supplementary data from another database, or process it for use by another system.

Other improvements include added support for Windows printer drivers and OPOS support for customer displays and cash drawers. Multi-drawer controls have been enhanced, and new .INI file settings allow for advanced data file control (e.g., shared customer database with separate sales transactions and inventories). A virtually unlimited number of transaction Print Buttons can be configured to generate multiple forms on multiple printers. Automatic printing to a file or remote printer can also be hidden for stealth operation.

Keystroke POS has long been known and respected for its outstanding flexibility. Version 5 continues the legacy by providing the ultimate in configurability. With over 15 years of experience in the POS industry and over 6,000 installations, SBS is a leader in POS automation solutions for independent retailers.
