Pneumatic Actuators feature 4-piston design.

Press Release Summary:

With 4 centrally balanced pistons around pinion gear mechanism, Compact II Pneumatic Actuators feature virtually frictionless travel. Compact size allows units to fit where larger, single and double piston actuators cannot. Different spring configurations can be selected for pairs of pistons. Designed to meet quarter-turn valve automation requirements, actuators are suited for biotech, biopharm, and pharmaceutical applications.

The Pioneer In High Cycle Life Performance for Valve Automation has Introduced The Compact II, The Second Generation More Topworks Friendly Enhanced Series

The unique 4 piston design of the Compact pneumatic actuator series has raised the bar for high cycle life applications for valve automation. The concept of four centrally balanced pistons around a pinion gear mechanism results in virtually frictionless travel as opposed to single and double piston mechanisms which are inherently prone to side loading stress and seal wear. The compact size of the four piston design allows the Compact actuator series to be able to "fit" where larger single and double piston acutators cannot.

The Compact also produces twice the torque of comparable double rack and pinion actuators, and results in end users being able to mount a smaller, more powerful and less expensive actuator on their ball, butterfly and plug valves. In addition, Compact consumes less air because there is no "dead" space in the actuator housing. In double rack and pinion designs the chambers have to fill with air before the pistons move whereas with the Compact design the pistons move immediately.

As a result of having four pistons there are more spring return options with Compact as different spring configurations can be selected for two pistons and others for the other two. Compact actuators also cycle faster due to shorter travel distances.

Compact actuators are in service in all types of industrial process control applications around the world, as well as on off shore drilling platforms. For many major multinational end users Compact is the actuator of choice for all of their quarter-turn valve automation requirements. Compact actuators are also at work in many biotech, biopharm and pharmaceutical applications worldwide.

Compact also offers a patented innovative new Impact Air Assist device that increases the closing torque for fail-safe spring-return actuators. This unique product is helpful to any plant maintenance engineer who has automated valves that aren't competely closing due to a build up in torque in the valve over time or spring fatigue in the actuator. This inexpensive solution saves having to replace the entire automated valve package with the attendant labor cost and lost productivity and down time. The Impact can be mounted in line and extends the life of the automated valve and eliminates "wrench time" and the costs associated therewith.

Impact can be mounted on any spring return actuator and one size fits all.
