Original Press Release:
New Atlas PMC Card Combines ATI Graphics Engine with Dual Head VGA and DVI
Leesburg, VA July 18, 2005, -- Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing has introduced the first of a new series of dual-channel, high resolution PMC graphics controllers for VME, CompactPCI and PCI systems. The new AtlasPMC/1D is based on ATI Technologies' RADEON Mobility 9000 (M9) mobile graphics processor, which supports dual 2D, 3D, OpenGL, and DirectX compatible displays with up to 16.7 million colors (24 bpp). The M9 features 64 MB of integrated memory, reduced-power optimizations, integrated video output, and quad-pipeline 2D/3D acceleration to reduce host processor overhead.
The AtlasPMC/1D is designed for use in 0°C to +70°C, operating environments. It simplifies the integration of high performance display graphics into VME and CompactPCI systems and displays analog VGA screen resolutions up to 1920x1200 over both of its front panel connectors. The card can also be configured to output dual digital video (DVI) channels at resolutions up to 1600x1200 (1920x1200 with reduced blanking intervals). TV video signal output (NTSC/PAL) is supported on the card's second channel and Sync-On-Green (SOG) can be enabled on both channels.
The PMC card's VGA/FCode BIOS enables AtlasPMC/1D to operate in virtually any x86, PowerPC, or SPARC system. Uniquely in the embedded computing marketplace, Curtiss-Wright provides software support across a broad range of operating systems including Linux, Windows, and Solaris operating environments. The board also features a number of unique design attributes including:
o M9 dual design provides VGA and DVI via the PMC front panel
o Uses DVI and MDR20 connectors that connect to standard DVI cables (MDR20 is DFP compatible)
o On-board 3V regulator for compatibility with all VME CPU boards
o Full Windows compatibility including power management and BIOS auto-detect
o Alternate version (AtlasPMC/1V) has dual front panel VGA connectors
o Support for non-interlaced, interlaced, and sync-on-green on both VGA/RGB channels
o PMC host interface is compatible with 32 and 64-bit PCI and PCI-X
"The AtlasPMC/1D is a single PMC card solution that will save system integrators time and valuable board slots," said Darwin Beckel, president and general manager of Subsystems Solutions, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. "This cost-effective, high performance graphics card is the tip of the iceberg for a new benign-market graphics product line from Curtiss-Wright."
