Easy to Use Modular Test Controller from Moog Handles Wide Range of Tasks

East Aurora, NY, USA - Moog's latest test controller is intended for simple and complex tests on components, materials and vehicles. The new Modular Test Controller is the latest addition to a family that already includes larger units dedicated to aerospace and automotive testing, as well as the Portable Test Controller. Based on input from customers at leading material, automotive and aerospace test laboratories, it provides for efficient operation in an array of testing applications, including shock absorber tests, single-axis test systems, vibration and performance evaluation tests.

The controller is equally adept at handling simple and complex tests. Its design makes it accessible from the operator's desktop while also allowing for easy integration into test machines on a network. It can quickly interface with all commonly used sensors used for movement of a single axis. It includes control loops for force, displacement and acceleration control with bumpless transition, with technology that is identical to other products in the company's family of test controllers.

Advantages for the new controller include its proven reliability - Moog already has thousands of control channels installed and used daily in test labs around the world - access to all connectors from the same interface panel, and its suitability for integration within test machines such as load frames. A Software Development Kit (SDK) can be used to develop customized user interfaces or to connect to existing software. Advanced safety checks are built in to ensure that the test article and test data are always protected.

The controller incorporates control loop technology, reducing the amount of time required for set-up and actual running of tests. It can interface with any hydraulic, electric or pneumatic actuator. "Plug and play" with all connectors enables immediate integration. An embedded disk card provides integrated data storage. Powered by EtherCAT, it enables immediate integration into any test system.

The Modular Test Controller supports the recently introduced Moog Integrated Test Suite software, which enables engineers to set up and run tests quickly and efficiently anywhere in the world.
