PLM And Startrak Announce Agreement For Wireless Tracking System
Montvale, NJ: PLM Trailer Leasing has just announced the offering of wireless tracking capabilities on its refrigerated fleet, as part of Cold Link, its refrigerated service program. PLM is partnering with StarTrak Systems, a provider of GPS tracking and wireless asset management services, for the delivery through its ReeferTrak solution.
PLM, a lessor of refrigerated equipment, including trailers and storage containers, has committed to equip ReeferTrak for each newly-purchased reefer as an add-on service to its customers. PLM is also planning to equip systems for existing customers on a case-by-case basis. The planned number of newly-purchased units is estimated at 1,200 systems in 2007.
PLM is planning on enabling the reefer wireless monitoring and control service for a simple, additional monthly fee, for an installed base of reefers. In this manner, customers will be relieved of the burden of making the capital investment and project roll-out of the technology. Through Cold Link, PLM will provide customers not only with GPS information but critical temperature and microprocessor sensor information. PLM customers will have the capabilities to monitor products en-route and to be able to mitigate potential hazards and breakdowns.
