PLL Hard Macros save chip space.

Press Release Summary:

Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) hard macros feature die size of approximately 0.07 mm² in 0.13 µm generation technologies. Area includes dividers and required digital support logic, supply bypass capacitance, and block isolation. Built to support wide frequency and multiplication ranges, products offer low-jitter performance over entire operating range. LockNow! technology improves PLL lock times.

Original Press Release:

True Circuits Introduces Phase-Locked Loop Hard Macros That Are One-Third the Size of Their Current Standard Products

Smaller PLL Sizes Achieved Without Sacrificing Performance

SAN DIEGO, California, June 7, 2004 -- True Circuits, Inc. (TCI), a leading provider of analog and mixed-signal intellectual property (IP) for the semiconductor, systems and electronics industries, today announced the immediate availability of a new line of Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) hard macros that are down to one-third the die size of their current standard PLL products.

The die area of these new high-performance PLL hard macros is about 0.07mm² in 0.13um generation technologies. This area includes dividers and other required digital support logic, supply bypass capacitance, and block isolation. Like other True Circuits PLLs, these smaller versions are very flexible with wide frequency and multiplication ranges, and offer low-jitter performance over the entire operating ranges. Each hard macro also includes our LockNow! Technology to dramatically improve PLL lock times.

"These new PLLs have been carefully engineered to significantly reduce die area without compromising the performance and features offered by our current PLL products," noted Dr. John Maneatis, True Circuits' President. "This reduced area option will allow our customers extra flexibility in the placement of PLLs in their chip floor plans."

Pricing and Availability

True Circuits smaller size PLLs are available for immediate customer delivery. The hard macros are available for a per use license fee with no royalty fees. The license fee includes integration support from TCI to ensure a successful customer tape out. The deliverables include GDSII and LVS Spice netlists, behavioral and synthesis models, Library Exchange Format (LEF) files and extensive user documentation.
