New Design Offers Users Convenience and Speed for a Variety of Ring Applications

NILES, IL (May 12, 2004) - Continuing its tradition of innovative tool design, Imperial® introduces its new IR-92 and IR-94 universal convertible retaining ring pliers that are designed for a wide variety of internal and external automotive and mechanical retaining ring applications.

The convertible retaining ring pliers from Imperial offer users convenience, stability and speed in all ring applications. Unlike typical retaining ring pliers, the IR-92 and IR-94 require no special tools or extra effort to switch from internal to external rings. Users simply grip the pliers and adjust the side levers to select the desired internal or external setting. In addition, the plier tips, which range in size, are quickly and easily interchangeable and provide enhanced stability with their hex-shaped design that fits securely into matching hex grooves.

Other user-friendly features include ergonomic handles, strong steel construction for durability and strength and a black oxide finish that resists rust and corrosion. The IR-92 is for ring diameters up to two inches, and the smaller IR-94 is made for up to one-inch diameter rings to provide convenient access into tight spaces.

Each pliers set contains five pairs of color-coded precision-ground tips and an Allen wrench in a convenient storage pouch. The IR-92 kit includes 0.038-inch, 0.047-inch and 0.070-inch tip diameters. The IR-94 tip diameters include 0.024 inches, 0.038 inches and 0.047 inches. Both kits contain an angled 90-degree tip in the 0.038 and 0.047 diameters.
