Plex Online MRP Enhancements Reduce Manufacturers' Inventory Holding Costs and Speed Customer Deliveries

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 27, 2010 -- Plex Systems, Inc., provider of the No. 1 rated manufacturing ERP software Plex Online, today announced it has enhanced the system's materials resource planning (MRP) functionality.

MRP functionality enables manufacturers to drive purchase requirements and plan just-in-time delivery of raw materials. Plex Online's streamlined MRP functionality enables its users to achieve higher profits by minimizing inventory holding costs and reducing delays caused by lack of raw materials.

Three new planning tools have been added to further optimize the cost savings and efficiencies already delivered by Plex Online.

o A new "supplier transit calendar" has been launched; it itemizes delivery timing at the parts and operations levels, making it easier for users to plan and track purchasing and deliveries by product.

o The new "company work calendar" is used to determine which days companies can receive inventory from suppliers. For example, if a part is required on the 30th of the month but the receiving dock is closed that day, the calendar will bump the delivery up to the 29th.

o The new "customer transit calendar" enables users to specify the days of the week that a product can be in transit. This is particularly useful for customers who manage their own deliveries with their own trucking service.

In addition to these three planning tools, other Plex Online features have been introduced to enhance the efficiency of manufacturers' MRP functions. For example, users can now automatically create purchase orders from the system's in-transit inventory display. Forecasts can now be passed directly to component requirements and can also be viewed in a "multi-bucket" screen.

"Common among all of these enhancements is a focus on getting the Plex Online user real-time information quickly and easily," said Plex Systems CEO and President Mark Symonds. "By providing our users with the latest and most meaningful information, Plex Online enables manufacturers to greatly reduce their inventory holding costs and eliminate any unnecessary delays in receiving materials."

"These new enhancements are available immediately to all new and existing Plex Online users and are automatically integrated with costing, quality, traceability, and other related operations - maximizing the benefits for users and enabling them to meet world-class standards of efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability."
