Schneider Electric Offers Integrated PLC/HMI Solution Ideal for Small and Standalone Machine Control

Combines nano PLC and compact text-based operator screens

NORTH ANDOVER, MA - April 05, 2004 - The Telemecanique® TwidoPack is Schneider Electric's newest innovation for simplifying the control of small and standalone machines. It integrates the latest version of the company's popular Twido nano controllers with Magelis® XBT-N, one of the smallest and most rugged text-based HMI displays on the market, in one competitively-priced package.

The TwidoPack combination starter pack is designed to meet the growing market demand for nano controllers with greater functionality and easy connectivity to user-friendly operator terminals. New TwidoSoft v2.0 software adds a number of new capabilities to the Twido family of compact and modular controllers, including increased data capacity, improved process control with up to 14 configurable PID loops and built-in USB port and modem communications management for remote monitoring. A new AS-INTERFACE master module also allows the innovative ultra-compact nano controller to manage more than 1,000 I/O points.

The Magelis XBT-N is one of the only small operator displays on the market rated both NEMA 4X for outdoor use and UL Class 1, Division 2 for hazardous locations. With a depth of just 78mm it takes up less panel space because no separate power supply is needed. It has a fast response time of just 30ms. The Magelis XBT-N text display incorporates efficient diagnostics and distributed communications capabilities and a plug-in cable that reduces wiring costs.

This open, off-the-shelf alternative to more costly custom PLC/HMI solutions integrates easily with companion Schneider Electric products and third-party components for small machine control, including new Telemecanique TeSys(TM) U-Line smart motor starters, Osi(TM) sensors, Altivar® 31 drives and Phaseo® power supplies.
