Shuttle VLM & Vertical Carousels With New Touch Screen Controls Improve Storage And Retrieval Productivity
The Shuttle(TM) Vertical Lift Module (VLM) and vertical carousels from Remstar International Inc. with the new FastPic PL-C(TM) Touch Screen Control offer increased productivity and throughput, plus improved inventory control in storage and retrieval applications.
Using FastPic PL-C, operators simply enter the part number of the stored item directly into the Shuttle VLM or vertical carousel via the flat screen PL-C control mounted on the unit. One touch activates the system and delivers the item to the operator at an ergonomic height.
FastPic PL-C improves throughput, productivity and picking accuracy in a variety of storage and retrieval applications. Its intuitive interface makes storage and retrieval system operation easy and reduces training time for new employees. The Shuttle VLM is an enclosed system of vertically arranged trays, an ergonomically designed extraction platform, and computerized controls. It can store up to 550/1100/2,000 lb. per tray with a total maximum payload of 44,000/66,000/88,000 lb. Remstar's CubeStar(TM) technology combines hardware and controls to give the Shuttle VLM up to 50 percent more storage capacity than conventional vertical lift modules. The Controls 2000(TM) controls package allows users to customize the operation of the Shuttle VLM on the fly quickly and easily.
The modular design of the Shuttle VLM allows it to be configured to meet varying ceiling heights. Small footprint and standalone design make the Shuttle VLM especially suitable for point-of-use storage.
Remstar vertical carousels provide high-density storage with quick access to parts via a system of vertically arranged rotating carrier shelves that bring the exact pick/store position to the operator. Because operators don't have to spend time traveling aisles searching for parts, productivity can often increase by more than 2.5 times when compared with traditional shelving.
Both the Shuttle VLM and vertical carousels, because they take advantage of unused overhead space, can recover 75 percent and more of a conventional storage system's occupied floor space.
