BOMAG Introduces New Reversible Plate Compactors with Hydraulic Travel Control and Exclusive Thumb-Tip Operation

KEWANEE, Ill. - BOMAG Light Equipment introduces two new reversible plate compactors with hydraulic travel control and exclusive thumb-tip travel operation.

The new BOMAG BPR65/52D-3 and BPR75/60HD-3 reversible plate compactors feature a hydraulic travel control system that ensures a smooth, easy transition from forward to reverse travel modes. An exclusive thumb-tip operated travel lever makes it easy to change direction or to hold the plate in a neutral position.

The 1,146-pound BPR65/52D-3 delivers 14,625 pounds of centrifugal force at 4,380 vibrations per minute. The unit is powered by a 10.2-horsepower, air-cooled Hatz 1D50 diesel engine and can reach working speeds of 78.7 feet per minute. Standard wear strips increase operating width from 20.5 to 26.1 inches. Optional plate extensions increase operating width to 32.3 inches.

The 1,638-pound BPR75/60HD-3 provides 13,950 pounds of centrifugal force at 2,280 vibrations per minute. It is powered by a 14.3-horsepower, air-cooled Hatz 1D81Z diesel engine and can reach working speeds of 82 feet per minute. With standard wear strips, operating width is increased from 22.8 to 28 inches. Optional plate extensions increase operating width to 35.4 inches.

Both new models are designed to deliver optimum results on both granular and mixed soil compaction applications such as construction backfill and trenches. With the addition of higher amplitude and increased travel speeds, the BPR75/60HD-3 also works well in high moisture and cohesive-content materials.

Built to withstand the rigors of any job site, the base plates on both units are constructed of high-grade cast iron and feature reinforced sides to increase strength. An open, self-cleaning design minimizes the build-up of dirt and debris.

Further enhancing durability, the rugged frame protects the engine from abusive job-site conditions while totally enclosed v-belts extend the service life. A travel-lever pressure relief valve prevents pressure spikes from damaging seals in the event that control levers are inadvertently contacted by other on-site equipment.

Built-in buffers on the steering bow reduce hand/arm vibration and increase operator comfort. For improved operator safety, the plates are equipped with a safety button that engages forward travel in the event the operator falls or backs into an obstacle while traveling in reverse. The steering handle adjusts to different working heights to accommodate any operator.

For added convenience, the ignition switch on both units is mounted on the control handle. Though both engines include electric starters, a backup starting crank is included if needed. To prevent accidental engine damage, an automatic shutdown mechanism engages in the event of low oil level.

A single, balanced foldable lifting point makes loading and unloading easy.
