Plastic Cap Nailer has 500 in.-lb driving power.

Press Release Summary:

Model N66BC-1 secures 1 in. dia plastic cap over target area until nail fastens it into place, reducing tear-through and providing holding power for materials that require skin-tight application, such as felt paper and foam board insulation. With magazine capacity of 300 nails and 100 caps, it accepts fasteners 1¼-2½ in. in length and .08-.092 in. dia. Features include lightweight magnesium housing, tool-free depth adjustment, and over-molded rubber grip.

New Cap Nailer, Introduces Stronger, Faster Method of Felt & Foam Board Installation

NOVEMBER 1, 2005 - NEW YORK. NY - BOSTITCH announced today the introduction of its new model N66BC-1 cap nailer during a press conference at the Warwick New York Hotel. Global Product Manager Dan Burgjohann said. "The introduction of hand-driven plastic cap nails was a true innovation for this industry. However, the time-consuming process of applying them has been the limiting factor until now. The N66BC-I requires no sacrifice ... it offers a better, faster method of applying house wrap, felt paper, and foam board insulation. This is the tool that many contractors have been awaiting before adopting the use of cap nails."

The N66BC-1 secures a 1" diameter plastic cap over the target area until the nail fastens it into place. This method of installation reduces tear-through and increases holding power on building materials that function best with a skin-tight application. Accepting fasteners between 1-1/4" and 2-1/2" in length and .080" to .092" diameter, the model N66BC-1 has a magazine capacity of 300 nails and 100 caps.

With 500 inch-pounds of force, the N66BC-I touts more than enough power to drive into high-density building materials. Its tool-free "dial-a-depth" adjustment is positioned in front of the trigger for setting nails quickly and conveniently with a single hand. According to Burgjohann, this feature is critical because overdriving a nail through the cap and/or material will result in compromised holding power.

BOSTITCH chose magnesium - a premium metal weighing 1/3 less than aluminum - to construct the nailer's housing because of its lightweight, durable characteristics. Weighing only 5.8 pounds, the N66BC-1 makes light work of overhead nailing applications. Its over-molded rubber grip and superior balance works to maximize comfort and minimize end-user fatigue. Currently available on the market, the model N66BC-1 includes a plastic carrying case and is expected to sell for approximately $319.
