New Igus Iglide R Plastic Bearings Replace Traditional Bronze Bearings at an Affordable Price
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - February 23, 2004 - igus® Inc. today introduced a new plastic plain bearing, iglide® R, to replace traditional bronze bearings in many applications. Iglide R is an affordable, maintenance-free alternative to oil-dependent sintered bearings. Iglide R, like all iglide plastic bearings, requires no lubrication, is oil-free and will not corrode.
Iglide R is resistant to dirt, dust and UV rays, as well as quiet and environmentally safe, making it ideal for agricultural and outdoor applications. Commercial mowers and industrial golf course equipment will benefit from its contamination-free properties.
Iglide R is virtually maintenance-free, incurring no additional costs beyond initial purchase price. Most bronze bearings require regular maintenance, which can significantly increase cost over time. Unlike Iglide R, bronze bearings require lubrication such as oil, which can harm the environment. Furthermore, if the do not operate properly they will not lubricate, thereby decreasing the lifespan of the bearing or damaging the machine.
