Miller Introduces New Plasma Cutting, Wire Feeder and Safety Technology at Fabtech International 2002
APPLETON, Wis., July 24, 2002 - Miller Electric Mfg. Co. will demonstrate its new Spectrum® 625 plasma cutter, its enhanced 70 Series wire feeder, and lightweight auto-darkening welding helmets at FABTECH International 2002. Powerful, Portable Cutting Technology
The Spectrum 625 is Miller's first portable air plasma cutter with a rated cut of 1/2-in. on mild steel. This plasma cutter produces outstanding cut quality at a rate of 16 IPM on 1/2-in. steel using a hand-held torch. Consumable costs are cut through the Spectrum 625's pilot arc controller, which extends tip life by minimizing double arcing and keeping the plasma jet in a focused column. Miller's Wind Tunnel Technology(TM) helps prevent abrasive dust and metal particles from damaging internal components while the Fan-On-Demand(TM) function reduces the amount of airborne material pulled through the unit by turning on the cooling fan only when needed. Ideal for light construction, maintenance, fabrication and body shop applications, the 57-lb. Spectrum 625 offers excellent power, portability and cut quality.
Constant Product Evolution: 70 Series Wire Feeders
Available in both bench-top and Swingarc(TM) boom-mounted models, the 70 Series dual wire feeders offer those in heavy manufacturing, metal fabrication and high-volume welding the capability to changeover between wires without the delay associated with single wire feeders. Swingarc boom-mounted 70 Series feeders add an extra dimension of flexibility, efficiency and operator comfort to high-production wire welding stations. By placing the feeders at the base of a 12- or 46-ft. boom that rotates 360 degrees and moves up or down 60 degrees, an operator is given a 24- or 32-ft. diameter work area.
Miller's 70 Series wire feeders now offer an auto-detection system which determines if the feeder is hooked up to a power source with a 14-pin connection for current and voltage feedback. Feeders now skip the run-in mode when attached to power sources without feedback, eliminating the need to remove the cover and toggle dip switches.
Additional enhancements to the S-74DX will also be demonstrated. Operators are now able to set independent locks for voltage and wire speed to improve consistency. Voltage range can be set from zero to 10 in 0.1-volt increments and wire feed speed range is set from 0 to 250 IPM in 1 IPM increments. Locks previously set to five, 10 or 20 percent with two dip switches are now controlled through the auxiliary menu. The S-74DX also features a more user-friendly display that indicates to the operator which menu they are in through a flashing LED.
Welding in High-Tech Style
Costing less than competitive helmets - ranging from $199 to $249 - Miller offers lightweight (16 oz.), auto-darkening helmets featuring exclusive custom graphics and all the comfort and control features welding operators demand.
