SKF® 'Ultra Power' Planetary Roller Screws Designed for Heavier Loads and Longer Life

New SKF® "Ultra Power" planetary roller screws have been introduced by SKF Motion Technologies (Bethlehem, PA) to accommodate static and dynamic load capacities up to 60% higher than standard planetary roller screws. Applications include injection molding machinery for plastic and rubber, steel casting and rolling machines, broaching machines, and presses.

These new high-performance planetary roller screws can facilitate conversions from hydraulics to electromechanical actuation. They enable clean, precise, and flexible electromechanical operation while delivering the power associated with hydraulic actuators.

SKF "Ultra Power" planetary roller screws (Series SRP) can handle dynamic loads up to 2271kN and static loads up to 11907kN, depending on type. Diameters range from 60mm to 180mm and screw leads range from 15mm to 40mm.

The roller screw's planetary timing mechanism permits high acceleration and promotes consistent functioning, even under the most challenging conditions. Planetary roller motion eliminates a need to recirculate the rolling elements, resulting in smoother operation, lower noise level, and longer life. Multiple contact points on each roller and the optimized design of the "Ultra Power" range contribute to superior performance.

"Ultra Power" screws typically include wipers and are available with an axial play less than 0.1mm. A variety of customization options including mounting flanges can be designed to satisfy application requirements.
