Baldor Introduces Precision Servo Gearheads
Baldor Electric Company, Fort Smith, Arkansas based manufacturer of energy saving industrial electric motors, drives and generators, announces a new line of precision gearheads. The new planetary gearheads have been designed for servo motor applications requiring precision, durability, and long trouble-free operation. They mount directly to Baldor's BSM servo motor family to provide torque multiplication, speed reduction and inertia matching.
The new Baldor gearheads are designed with low backlash to reduce shock loads in dynamic reversing actions. Standard backlash is 15, 12 or 10 arc-minutes. Lower backlash units are also available. A major feature of Baldor's servo gearheads is that the backlash specification holds for the rated gearhead life. Other features include: case hardened and ground gearing-to maintain accuracy throughout life; rugged steel construction-allows for high rated torque for emergency stopping; and dual ball bearing support-provides stiffness and high radial load capacity.
The new gearheads are designed to provide high efficiency to maximize the power transmission capability. They come in five different sizes with models available from stock in ratios: 5,7,10,16, 25, 50 and 100:1. Other ratios are also available.
Assembling the gearheads to a Baldor BSM servo motor is quickly accomplished with a self-locating input pinion. A two screw clamping design secures the input pinion to the motor shaft.
