Pixim's Orca Chipset Drives Pelco's First TCP/IP Security Cameras with Two New Camclosure Mini-Dome Offerings

Pelco Adds Two New Pixim-Enabled TCP/IP Offerings to Camclosure Mini-Dome Security Camera Series Featuring Wide Dynamic Range and True Day/Night Operation

Mountain View, Calif.--May 16, 2007.... Pixim, Incorporated's award-winning Digital Pixel System® (DPS) technology is integrated into Pelco's first TCP/IP camera offerings, two new indoor and outdoor Camclosure IP security cameras, models IP110-DW and IP110-CW. With the addition of the IP110 series, eight new Pelco Camclosures now feature Pixim's Orca Chip set.

Pelco's Camclosure series incorporates Pixim's technology into small, versatile enclosures to deliver wide dynamic range for excellent image quality and accurate color representation 24/7. Pelco recommends the Pixim-enabled Camclosures for challenging lighting conditions, such as glare, direct sunlight, reflections, strong backlight, and low light conditions. The Camclosure IP series comes standard with Power over Ethernet (PoE) allowing both power and video to transmit over a single cable.

Pixim's Orca chipset technology is well suited for Pelco's first TCP/IP camera offerings delivering all digital data from pixel to packet. Pixim's progressive scan imager with global electronic shutter dramatically reduces storage requirements in networked installations due to very low high-frequency noise in the captured images resulting in smaller compressed bit rates. This in turn reduces network traffic. Wide dynamic range data is also ideal for video analytics applications, providing more accurate information for scene analysis algorithms.

"Pelco's adoption of Pixim's Orca chipset in their first TCP/IP camera series takes full advantage of the industry's first all-digital image sensing technology," comments John Monti, Pixim's Vice-President of Marketing and Sales. "Pixim chipsets provide Pelco with accurate image data in varied lighting conditions increasing the value and usability of Camclosure IP110-DW and IP110-CW."

Frost & Sullivan named Pixim, Inc. as the recipient of the 2006 Technology Innovation & Leadership of the Year Award in the field of video surveillance technology in recognition of its development of the Orca chipset.
