Pitney Bowes Facilitates eBay® Cross Border Transactions with New ClearPath(TM) Service

STAMFORD, Conn., June 7 / / -- Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE:PBI) is making U.S.-Canadian eBay(R) transactions easier with the introduction of its new ClearPath(TM) cross border service, it was announced today. The ClearPath(TM) service benefits eBay(R) buyers and sellers by removing payment and shipping worries typically associated with international transactions.

"The launch of ClearPath(TM) cross border services reinforces Pitney Bowes' dedication to providing businesses of all sizes with end-to-end mailstream solutions, and will help to drive international commerce," said Mike Monahan, Executive Vice President of Pitney Bowes and President of Pitney Bowes Global Mailing Solutions and Services. "Since we joined forces with eBay(R) in 2004 to provide the postage engine for the eBay(R) U.S. site, we have continued to expand our offerings, both technologically and geographically, to strengthen and facilitate the global mailstream." Monahan added that while ClearPath(TM) service applies to U.S.-Canadian transactions currently, the company plans to extend the offering to other countries this year.

Featured as a link within the eBay(R) Solutions Directory and on registered sellers' item listings, the ClearPath(TM) service is a Pitney Bowes software solution that helps manage and track the shipment of eBay(R) items from a U.S. seller to a Canadian buyer. The ClearPath(TM) software calculates total costs of the international transaction for the buyer, including item price, shipping and handling, duties, taxes and currency exchange. For a seamless door-to-door delivery, the ClearPath(TM) solution then directs and tracks the movement of the item from the seller to a consolidator, then to a customs broker, next to a Canadian domestic carrier, and finally to the buyer. The ClearPath(TM) service remits payment to the seller, service suppliers and relevant government entities. Sellers on eBay(R) must register for the ClearPath(TM) service for buyers to benefit from the service.

"The ClearPath(TM) service helps to remove confusion associated with international transactions, including duties and exchange issues," said Craig Reed, Director of Cross Border Services for Pitney Bowes. "Sellers who sign up for this service can help expand the market for their goods by helping to ensure shipment to Canada that is as reliable, convenient, and fast as shipping to a domestic location." Reed added that for Canadian buyers, the ClearPath(TM) service offers certainty of total transaction costs, confidence that payments will be made accurately, and assurance about the location of their item at every step of the shipping process.

Pitney Bowes is an eBay(R) Certified Solutions Provider and also powers eBay's(R) postage technology.
