New Pinch Valve Automatically Controls Abrasive, Viscous and Corrosive Fluids
A new pneumatically actuated pinch valve - designed to control flow accurately on slurries, abrasives and corrosive fluids - has been introduced by Onyx Valve of Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
The new Onyx Valve CAR valve is a full round pneumatically operated valve with the Onyx maintenance-free actuator, which employs a spring for reliable, fail-safe operation. Closure is drop-tight. No lubricated air is necessary.
Available in Fail Open (PFO) or Fail Closed (PFC) construction, the CAR valve features smooth operation and high cycle life; it is ideal for both throttling and on/off applications, permitting only minimal pressure drop.
The valve is sized to match customers' thrust requirements. It basically consists of a rubber compression-molded sleeve inside a full round cast iron bonnet assembly; a metal pinch bar squeezes the rubber sleeve to control flow. The stem is stainless steel.
Several options are available, including a solenoid valve, a positioner, a 316 stainless steel stem, a secondary containment package, and ductile iron housing. Also optional are epoxy paint, a position indicator, auxiliary hand wheel override, a filter/regulator, and limit switches.
Applications include control of wastewater, chemicals, mine slurries, cement, pulp stock, powder and pellets.
