Photoelectric Sensors withstand chemicals and washdown.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring liquid-tight PFA jackets, miniature WORLD-BEAM® Q12 Series is designed for wet and corrosive industrial environments. Products sense up to 1.5 m in opposed mode and 15, 30, and 50 mm in fixed-field ranges. No field adjustments needed, and visible red light source facilitates target positioning. Able to withstand up to 1,200 psi washdowns, 10-30 Vdc sensors have solid-state bipolar outputs: one current sourcing (PNP) and one current sinking (NPN).

Original Press Release:

Chemical-Resistant World-Beam Q12 Sensors

Minneapolis, MN-April 30, 2007-Banner Engineering Corp. has announced that it now offers miniature WORLD-BEAM® Q12 Series photoelectric sensors with liquid-tight PFA jackets for use in wet and corrosive industrial environments. The sensor is capable of sensing up to 1.5 m in the opposed mode and 15, 30 and 50 mm fixed-field ranges. The sensor has been tested for 1200 psi washdowns. The PFA jacket is a $98 addition to the sensor's list price.

"The sensor is totally encapsulated in a PFA jacket, sealing it against chemicals and vapors that are unsuitable for standard sensor models," said Chuck Dolezalek, product development engineer. "With its tiny size and rugged housing, the Q12 is an ideal choice for caustic or washdown applications with serious space limitations."

Applications. Chemical-resistant Q12 models are rated IP67 for tough sensing challenges in confined areas; they get right into the sensing environment. They are ideal for a wide variety of level control, cleaning, etching and other chemical processes where material is corrosive or caustic. These models are often used in the printing, food and beverage, semiconductor, packaging and pharmaceutical industries.

Several features of the chemical-resistant Q12 sensors make them particularly easy to install and use:
No field adjustments needed; it works right out of the box.
Visible red light source provides easy target positioning.
Bright green and amber status LEDs are visible from 360°.
Integral mounting holes simplify installation.

Specifications. The chemical-resistant Q12 sensors are completely self-contained with housing dimensions of only 29 x 13 x 23 mm, making them ideal for confined spaces. All sensors are 10 to 30V dc with solid-state bipolar outputs, one current sourcing (PNP) and one current sinking (NPN). Cables are 2 m and encased in PFA tubing.

A family of easy-to-use sensors. WORLD-BEAM Series sensors from Banner deliver a universal solution for sensor users who demand a wide range of available sensing modes, in a choice of sizes. They are easy-to-apply, easy-to-use sensors that resist environmental contamination from moisture, dirt, EMI/RFI and crosstalk. WORLD-BEAM. One family. Complete solutions.
