Photoelectric Sensor/Transmitter features solar panel.

Press Release Summary:

Powered by 9 V alkaline battery with 150-day life, P-44 Thru-Beam Sensor/Transmitter uses SP-44 solar panel to extend battery life by up to 2 years. Two-conductor, 20 ft cable connects panel to P-44 power input terminals. With proper power applied, detection distance between emitter and receiver can be up to 50 ft. When photoelectric beam is blocked, receiver activates relay that can be used for garage door reversal, electrical mechanism shutdown, and other safety functions.

Cleveland, March 20, 2006 - EMX Industries Inc., a manufacturer of sensors for automation and gate/door control, has become the first manufacturer of photoeye access control products to offer a solar panel power option for its emitters. EMX is introducing the SP44 Solar Panel for its P-44 Thru-beam Photoelectric Sensor/Transmitter, thereby extending emitter battery life by up to two years. The P-44's emitter is powered by a nine-volt alkaline battery, which will normally last at least 150 days. By extending the life of this battery up to two years, field service replacements are reduced by a factor of five. With dimensions of only 2.7" X 1.2" X 0.28", the SP-44 Solar Panel can be located almost anywhere that is exposed to sunlight. A 20ft two-conductor cable connects the SP-44 to the P44 power input terminals.

When the SP-44 Solar Panel is installed to receive maximum sunlight, it keeps a 9VDC floating charge on the P44's alkaline battery during daylight hours. Essentially, the P44 emitter and its circuitry are powered by the solar panel during the day, and by the battery at night. A green LED on the P44 emitter indicates the power-on condition. With proper power applied, the detection distance between the P44 emitter and its receiver can be up to 50 feet. Whenever the photoelectric beam between the emitter and receiver is blocked, the receiver activates a relay that can be used for applications such as garage door reversal, electrical mechanism shutdown, and other safety functions. The receiver is immune to incidental light up to an intensity of 5000 lux at 3000°K.

Price and Availability
The Model SP44 Solar Panel is available 4 weeks ARO and is priced at around $43.00.
