Smallest Background Suppression Sensor in the World!

Baumer Electric's MINOS Solves Applications Previously Thought Impossible

Southington, Conn., July 22, 2004 - Baumer Electric, a leader in precision sensing technology, is proud to announce the new MINOS line of sub-miniature photoelectric sensors, featuring the smallest distance adjustable true background suppression version in the world!

Smaller than a keyboard key, the MINOS measures only 8 x 10.8 x 16 mm (0.31 x 0.43 x 0.63"). With single button teach-in and true background suppression by triangulation, this sensor detects regardless of color, texture, or reflectivity while simultaneously ignoring all background objects.

Featuring an interference resistant pulsed visible red light source, the MINOS offers a 60 mm (2.4") sensing range in true background suppression versions and a 150 mm (5.9") range in standard diffuse. The sensor constantly monitors its own light output, self-adjusts for any environmental changes and features a soiled lens indicator. The MINOS also boasts a response time of less than 500 microseconds, multiple indicator LEDs, short circuit and reverse polarity protection, and a wide 10-30 VDC supply range.

With single M3 through-screw mounting and flexible bottom or rear cable exits, the MINOS is easily mounted and is offered in cable or M8 connector pigtail options. For even more flexible installation options, the sensor is available with the MINOFIX mounting system with integrated cable pass-through, which allows the sensor to be mounted securely anywhere and in any sensing direction.

Difficult-to-solve applications due to restricted space, sensor housing size, weight, or accuracy can now be solved with the MINOS. This small sensor is an robust and reliable solution for the precise recognition of small parts in assembly machines and Poke Yoke tools or a an excellent alternative to hard-to-mount fiber optics. The MINOS is also ideal for applications in the semiconductor, printed circuit board, packaging, textile, printing & graphics, assembly, robotics, and pharmaceutical industries.

The MINOS line is available in background suppression, diffuse, polarized retroreflective and through-beam models.

As a manufacturer of all types of high-quality precision sensors since 1952, Baumer Electric offers customer-oriented sensor solutions for every automation need.
