Balluff Adds New Application and Mounting Versatility with One of the World's Smallest Photoelectric Sensor Families

Slightly larger than a cigarette filter, sub-mini sized sensor offers full functionality - ideal for semiconductor applications

FLORENCE, KY (April 2005) - Balluff's new BOS 2K family of photoelectric sensors combines full functionality in a miniature package that's only 20 x 7.5 x 10 mm in size. The tiny sensors offer the same functionality found in much larger sensors. BOS 2K sensors have an unmatched scan range of up to 1.2 meters. They offer four different sensing modes including diffuse, for part identification; diffuse with background suppression, for part configuration and placement; retroreflective, for parts verification and counting; and thru-beam versions for part sizing and position information. A full range of reflectors, mounting brackets, and connectors is available.

These tiny sensors can be easily attached in slots, pockets, guide rails or most any place a sensor is needed. They are ideal for a variety of assembly and handling applications - including error proofing - and are especially well suited to meet the requirements of the semiconductor industry. Each sensor contains a pinpoint LED emission feature that offers the precision of a laser for exact aiming and positioning, all at standard photoelectric prices.

The IP67 rated plastic housing offers outstanding protection, even in harsh environments, and ensures long service life. Metal sleeves on the sensor body work with M3 screws to provide fast, convenient attachment.
