Sipex Introduces Photo Detector IC for Second Generation 16x DVD-Write Drives



(Milpitas, CA - November 22, 2004) - Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ: SIPX) today announced the SP8067, a new photo detector IC engineered to support the next generation of 16x DVD-write drives. The SP8067 increases light sensitivity by 4x, supporting customer requests for enhanced performance to enable more efficient designs for 2005 model DVD-writers. The SP8067 features six gain levels spanning a 35dB range, 130MHz RF bandwidth, and 15ns settling times.
