Brabender® Pharma introduces a 12mm Table-Top Pharmaceutical Twin-Screw Extruder at TechnoPharm 2013
Duisburg, Germany/ Brabender® Pharma GmbH/ -- Brabender® Pharma GmbH introduced the PTSE 12/36 EC, its latest innovation for Pharmaceutical Hot Melt Extrusion, at the TechnoPharm 2013 exhibition in Nürnberg, Germany. The PTSE 12/36 EC is a Table-Top 12mm Pharmaceutical Twin Screw Extruder suitable for Hot Melt Extrusion, early formulation development and preparation of samples for clinical studies. Commenting on the unit, Rich Thoma, Global Business Leader for Brabender® Pharma, says “We feel that this new more compact addition to our product line will enhance our customer’s ability to address the challenges of HME processing in their feasibility studies.”
The PTSE 12/36 EC offers all necessary technical requirements for small scale formulation development and meets the needs of minimal amounts of expensive API. The instrument combines easy cleaning and handling with the small footprint of a table top unit. The PTSE 12/36 EC allows you to develop small scale formulations for Hot Melt Extrusion (HME) which increases the availability of poorly soluble ingredients. Usual pellet size of 1.5mm x 1.5mm can be processed or granular / powder materials. The removable barrel liner offers quick cleaning and sterilization. The complete barrel is split horizontally to allow quick access to all parts in contact with the material for rapid cleaning and easy analysis of the extrusion process. Segmented screws can be configured per customer specification and optional ports can be added on request, adding to the overall flexibility of this unit.
