Plaskolite Debuts Refined VIVAK® Product Line

Streamlined Inventory and FDA Compliance Will Benefit Distributors, End Users

COLUMBUS, Ohio,  -- Distributors and end users of polyethylene terephthalate (PETG) sheeting can realize a simplified stocking and purchasing experience thanks to Plaskolite, Inc.'s consolidation of its VIVAK(®) PETG product grades.

Columbus, Ohio-based Plaskolite, the world's largest manufacturer of continuously processed acrylic sheet products, is repositioning its two VIVAK PETG co-polyester sheet grades into one product offering that will be compliant with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements.

"VIVAK is the ideal material for applications that require deep draws, complex die cuts and precise molded-in details without sacrificing structural integrity," said Plaskolite Vice President of Marketing and Sales Mitchell P. Grindley. "With this consolidation, all VIVAK sheet is now FDA compliant. Distributors can reduce overhead by stocking just one product, and their end user customers can still order VIVAK PETG in the same dimensions they always have."

VIVAK is transparent co-polyester that offers a balance of strength and ease of fabrication. Plaskolite acquired the VIVAK PETG sheet USA business in 2012 from Bayer MaterialScience LLC. It can be decorated by painting, silk screening or hot stamping. Previously, Plaskolite VIVAK was available in two grades - GP for applications that did not require food contact compliance, and VI, which is produced from a resin that meets FDA requirements for food contact.

Plaskolite's VIVAK consolidation will take effect January 1, 2014.

"This is a decision that makes sense for our distributor customers," said Plaskolite President and CEO James R. Dunn. "Our customers' best interests are at the forefront of every decision we make."
