PESA to Promote Audio Router Solutions with Conversion Options at InfoComm 2013

Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading U.S.-based custom design and manufacturing company for professional audio and video signal distribution, will showcase its Series-C DRS small-scale companion audio router systems at InfoComm 2013 (Booth 2958), which runs June 12-14 in Orlando, Fla. Based on PESA's established DRS distributed audio signal processing technology, Series-C frames are available in two sizes, providing the same high-end features in a compact package.

The Series-C64 supports mono audio up to 64x64 and AES audio up to 32x32 in a 1 RU frame, while the Series-C128 supports mono audio up to 128x128 and AES audio up to 64x64 in 2 RU. Both sizes offer several models of audio routing connectivity solutions for analog and digital formats. Analog frames support both mono and stereo audio and are offered in either 6-pin pluggable or ELCO connector styles. Digital frames can support AES-110 in 6-pin pluggable or ELCO, while AES-75 is connected using a 75 Ohm BNC.

In addition to traditional I/O connections for mono, stereo, AES-110, and AES-75 signals, Series-C audio frames offer optional conversion capabilities allowing analog-to-digital, digital-to-analog, and digital-to-digital conversion. Both the Series-C64 and C128 offer analog audio input signals for mono or stereo that can be converted to AES outputs over 75 Ohm coax. Conversely, AES-75 coaxial inputs can be converted to either analog stereo or mono audio outputs. AES-110 digital audio inputs can be converted to AES-75 coaxial outputs.

Each DRS Series-C frame includes an on-board frame control/power supply module to operate as a secondary level in PESA's video frame small-scale system control hardware. Features include the ability to set gain, delay, L/R sum, L/R swap, and breakaway. Internal generator options include silence, sweep tone, white noise, or pink noise. Gain adjustments are done independently in 0.1dB increments on each input or output up to +/- 6dB. Audio delay is set independently on both inputs and outputs, with options to set the delay in restricted or unrestricted modes. Unrestricted allows adjustments up to 0.341 ms (>10 NTSC frames) on each input and output. Restricted mode provides up to 1.365 seconds (>40 NTSC frames) on a limited number of I/O.

Series-C frames feature front load, hot swappable card sets, and include space for an optional redundant frame control/power supply module. Plus, all Series-C units are compatible with PESA's Cattrax™ graphical user control interface, which supports comprehensive configuration, diagnostics, and monitoring of the full line of PESA router frames. The software, installed on a host PC running the Windows® operating system, communicates via an Ethernet port located on each router.

Designed to operate as companion audio routers to the Cougar or Jaguar video frames, Series-C DRS frames create a complete audio/video/control router configuration. The systems provide a full suite of signal management for production studios, editing suites, and compact live production vans.
