PESA Debuts openGear C22 Encoding/Decoding Cards at NAB 2015

Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading designer and manufacturer of streaming solutions as well as professional audio and video distribution products, today announced two new C22 encoding/decoding cards, which are compliant with the openGear standard for terminal equipment. The C22-OG supports RTSP and RTMP streams, while the C22-OG-T supports MPEG transport streams. PESA will demonstrate the new C22 cards at the 2015 NAB Show (Booth SL4617), which runs April 13-16 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Ross Video developed openGear as an industry standard for terminal equipment. The system includes a network card that communicates with every openGear card in the frame via the openGear Protocol (OGP). Cards are configured and controlled through the free control system software, DashBoard, which is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. PESA's encoding and decoding streaming technologies join more than 300 openGear solutions from more than 50 vendors that support the open architecture platform.

"PESA's unparalleled H.264 encoding and decoding is now available for openGear systems, which have become a popular option for unified workflow automation," said John Naylor, PESA vice president of global sales and distribution, streaming. "Each C22 card offers dual-channel encoding or decoding, so you can have up to 20 bi-directional channels in 2 RU. That's an incredible amount of video processing in a very small footprint, and it all works seamlessly within the popular openGear control and monitoring system. We are very pleased to add PESA to the growing list of openGear vendors."

The C22 cards offer many of the same features of the PESA XSTREAM C22 compact streaming appliance that was introduced last year. Each card can be configured as a two-port video encoder, two-port decoder, or include one of each. During an event, two external audio sources can be synchronized to either or both video streams. The C22 also provides HDMI I/O ports for applications that require encoding of HDMI sources or local monitoring with HDMI displays.

Both C22 cards for the openGear chassis will be available in Q2 2015.
