Pentium-Based ETX Computer Module for Embedded Projects

Irvine, CA (January 25, 2005) - ADLINK Technology releases its new ETX-IM333 computer-on-module based on the ETX form factor. The ETX-IM333 is based on the Intel) 855GME chipset and supports both Intel Pentium M processors from 1.1GHz to 2.0GHz and Celeron M processors from 600MHz to 1.3GHz. Both the chipset and processor are part of the Embedded Intel. Architecture program that warrants long production life for applications that need extended availability. The module supports CRT/LVDS displays, 10 Base-T/100 Base-TX Ethernet, Ultra ATA EIDE, four USB 2.0 ports, AC 97 Audio, Serial/Parallel ports and Keyboard/Mouse.

The ETX-IM333 comes standard with support for embedded features such as RS-232 console redirection, CMOS EEPROM backup for BIOS settings allowing battery-less operation, USB boot/legacy and PXE. The board is also available with an optional advanced next-generation video encoder that converts PC graphics data at a maximum 1280x1024 resolution to PAL (50Hz) or NTSC (60Hz) video signals. Alternatively the encoder can output Y, PB, and PR signals for HDTV i1080 monitors.

The ETX computer-on-module form factor (95mm x 144mm) offers a very short time-to-market solution for OEM customers. The ETX combines the convenience of an off-the-shelf core module with custom-made carrier boards to reduce product development time from the normal six months for a fully-custom solution to just six weeks for an ETX-based solution. Target markets for the ETX-IM333 include medical automation, instrumentation, gaming, POS, mobile computing and transportation.

Embedded Linux Development Kits for ETX-IM333

An Embedded Linux Development Kit is available for the ETX-IM333. The software and hardware tools included in the Embedded Linux Development Kit allow developers to set up a host-target based development system in just minutes without any peripherals or system setup on the target side. The connection to the host computer is a legacy-free USB interface for use with any desktop PC or notebook.

Price and Availability

The ETX-IM333 is competitively priced at $975 and is available from stock with OEM volume discounts.

ETX Product Family

ADLINK's ETX product family currently includes ETX modules based on the low power VIA Eden ESP CPU, Mobile Intel Celeron, and Intel Pentium M processors. For core module evaluation, a prototype board in ATX form factor is available. All modules are supported by BSPs for Microsoft Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE.NET, Linux and VxWorks.
