Pentair Water Launches New PENTEK® XE Series 4" Submersible Motors

DELAVAN, WI (October 23, 2006) - - - The Pump Division of Pentair, Inc. (NYSE: PNR) today introduced a new line of 4" submersible motors that offer significant advantages in dependability, energy efficiency, performance and warranty protection.

According to Bill Waltz, president of the Pump Division, "The new PENTEK® XE Series is designed to be the toughest motor on the market, backed by the strength of Pentair."

The XE Series motors are available in ½, ¾, 1, and 1.5 horsepower (HP) models and are manufactured by Faradyne Motors, a Pentair /ITT Industries joint venture company, headquartered in Newark, NY.

Pentair Water also manufactures and markets some of the most popular brands of well pumps including Aermotor(TM), BERKELEY®, Myers® and STA-RITE® as well as other PENTEK motors and controls.

TESTED
The PENTEK XE Series has been thoroughly tested: from component and lab testing through wet testing with pumps to extensive in-ground testing in some of the toughest conditions. Contractors across the United States conducted field trials of the PENTEK XE Series motors, powering various brands of pumps. Based on positive results in those trials, Faradyne has begun full-scale production of the PENTEK XE Series motors.

TOUGH
The PENTEK XE Series motors feature tougher components and construction than competitive motors. For example:
o 304L stainless steel end bells and shell, designed for maximum corrosion-resistance and longer motor life;
o Oversized Kingsbury bearings, rated at 700 lbs. of thrust, for higher thrust loads and longer motor life; and
o Higher grade Class F insulation to provide greater thermal handling capabilities and extended motor life.

TECHNOLOGY: Best-in-Class Energy Efficiency
With the XE series, PENTEK is raising the bar on energy efficiency. The 2-wire PENTEK XE Series draw twenty percent (20%) fewer amps than competitive designs - resulting in significant cost savings for end users. The XE 3-Wire series are similarly efficient when sized with a PENTEK SMC-CR control box.

Strong warranties
"We know contractors are concerned about reliability, especially in a new product," Waltz explained. "That's why we are backing the PENTEK XE Series with two strong warranties." The Profit Protector program provides a labor allowance for one year of coverage from the installation date. The Protector Plus Extended Warranty Program offers five years of protection, with no additional cost or complicated paperwork.

Proven history of quality
Waltz concluded, "With the introduction of the PENTEK XE Series, we have a modern, reliable and efficient power source that's as tough as our pumps. The new PENTEK XE Series motors deliver the same commitment to superior design, long term performance and strong customer support as you've come to expect from Aermotor, BERKELEY, Myers and STA-RITE pumps."
