Pennsylvania College of Technology Boosts Quality in Output and Education with New KODAK Digital Printing Systems

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 8-Two new KODAK Digital Printing Systems at Pennsylvania College of Technology provide hands on training for students and high quality output for users of the school's in-plant print shop. The print shop at Penn College now includes a KODAK NEXPRESS 2100 Plus Digital Production Color Press and KODAK DIGIMASTER EX125 Digital Production System.

"Our students are more marketable if they are trained on the latest digital technologies and applications. The NEXPRESS Press is ideal for training our students and produces high quality work for our customers," said Joseph Geffre, Director of Mail and Document Services, Shipping and Receiving, Pennsylvania College of Technology. "We were attracted to the variable data capabilities of the NEXPRESS Press and also the fifth color unit, which allows for a larger range of PANTONE® Color matching and more versatility than just CMYK."

Penn College is a special mission affiliate of Penn State University, committed to applied technology education. With more than 6,500 students enrolled in bachelor's degree, associate degree and certificate majors, Penn College has the second highest enrollment in the Penn State system. The Print Shop works as an in-plant shop, providing printed material to the campus. They also provide instruction in graphics arts, including hands on printing initiatives.

"As the college's in house printing shop, we continually look for new ways to improve efficiency while producing institutional materials like course packs, hand outs and syllabus documents. We've found excellent speed with the DIGIMASTER System, allowing us to produce more materials in shorter period of time," said Geffre.

The NEXPRESS 2100 Plus Press meets a variety of needs up to very high volume environments. Customers are able to upgrade presses as they grow their businesses with options to select desired paper capacity, increase processing capability, and add a fifth imaging unit for delivery of spot color, watermarking and protective coating with the GATF InterTech Award winning KODAK NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions. The fifth imaging unit solutions also enable high impact glossing in conjunction with the KODAK NEXGLOSSER Glossing Unit. The booklet maker for KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Presses is available inline or offline for collating, stitching, folding, trimming, and creating standard or square back booklets of up to 100 pages.

The DIGIMASTER EX125 Digital Production System builds upon the proven quality, performance, productivity, and flexibility of Kodak's award winning DIGIMASTER Technology to address the demanding needs of print buyers for faster turnaround time, new and creative print on demand documents with quality that rivals offset, and variable data printing and sophisticated finishing. The DIGIMASTER EX125 System features improved job management, robust and user friendly front end capabilities, higher large format paper capacity, and fully integrated finishing. The DIGIMASTER System helps users grow their businesses by offering applications such as varying sized, saddle stitched booklets, on demand short run books and color integrated workflows.
