PEEK Luer Adapters for Biomedical Use
Cape Coral, FL — S4J Manufacturing Services announces the addition of Luer to 1/8" NPT male thread adapters, made from PEEK, to their standard product line of reusable Luer fittings and miniature quick connects. The PKA1305 is a Male Luer Lock to a 1/8" NPT (National Pipe Thread Taper). The PKA7307 is a PLASTI-MATE® Female Luer to 1/8"NPT. Although S4J has been manufacturing custom Luer taper connectors in PEEK since 1997, S4J Manufacturing chose to make this normally custom material available as a ready to ship product for these two popular style fittings. With the addition of PEEK, S4J now manufactures standard product from four materials, the others being brass with electroless nickel plating, stainless steel (300 series) and Acetal/ Delrin®.
Unfilled ("virgin") Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is a high performance engineering thermoplastic that is FDA compliant. It is naturally abrasion resistant, strong and stiff. It is typically used in applications, including biomedical, where elevated temperatures and resistance to chemicals, steam and hot water are required. PEEK is a high strength alternative to fluoropolymers. It carries a V-O flammability rating and exhibits very low smoke and toxic gas emission when exposed to flame. Requests for custom configurations in PEEK, as well as in many other machinable plastics and metals, are always welcome.
