Peek Accepts Order for NYC Traffic Cabinets
Shipping to the City of New York Through 2009
PALMETTO, FL - May 1, 2009 - Peek Traffic has received an order for 255 traffic control and power backup cabinets from Dumont Electrical, Inc. of Sparta, NJ. These cabinets will be used by Dumont in their role as a contractor to the City of New York. The order includes multiple configurations of their award-winning Advance Solid state Traffic Control (ASTC) cabinets and power backup cabinets. Each of the ASTC cabinets
will be fitted with the Peek Advanced Traffic Controller, as well as associated wiring harness hardware, load switches, flashing circuits, and additional hardware required to create a complete intersection control solution for the city.
The ASTC Cabinets from Peek and U.S. Traffic were designed in partnership with the City to be compact and complete intersection control platforms that fit perfectly into the major transportation management infrastructure upgrade that New York has undertaken over the past several years. The compact size of these cabinets allows them to be installed into crowded Central Business District (CBD) areas of the city,
while providing the same state-of-the-art advanced traffic control features of Peek's other modern cabinets.
In particular, the ASTC cabinets are designed to house the advanced Peek ATC CBD traffic controllers. Peek's ATC controllers are NTCIP protocol devices that can be integrated into modern communications networks and fit well into 'traffic responsive' and 'traffic adaptive' central traffic management systems. The New York cabinets and controllers are being interfaced with Transcore's TranSuite® central system. The Peek ATC Controllers are also fully compatible with Peek's IQ Central® central traffic management software system.
These cabinets begin shipping in June 2009. Shipments will continue through the year. This order adds to the approximately 7,000 ASTC cabinets, advanced traffic controllers and related hardware, on order by the City of New York and its related contractors. Most of these systems are already installed and operating throughout the five bouroughs of New York.
