Pearson Previews Next Generation Desktop Document Scanner at 2008 BETT Show

Innovative Scanner Offers Schools Versatile, Cost-Effective, High-Quality Data Capture and Imaging Technology

LONDON, Jan. 9 / -- Today at BETT 2008, Pearson previewed the first desktop model scanner combining high-speed, full-color document imaging technology with the proven data capture capabilities of grayscale mark recognition. The new iNSIGHT 30(TM) is designed to support education scanning applications such as testing, attendance, grading, surveys, student portfolios, personnel records and back office file conversions. To develop this innovative scanner, Pearson applied its more than 50 years of unique engineering, forms design, applications development and customer support experience.

"At Pearson, we are committed to offering our customers scanning technologies that address their critical requirements for reliable and accurate data management solutions," said John Harnett, president and CEO of the Data Management group of Pearson. "The new iNSIGHT 30 scanner offers schools a versatile, cost-effective way to capture, store and distribute the growing volumes of data and documents that they deal with every day."

The iNSIGHT 30 uses the ScanTools® utility software program to ensure accurate resolution, recognition and formatting of scanned documents. In addition, the images are oriented automatically and simultaneously enhanced for proper full-color display.

Scanning at speeds of up to 75 pages per minute, the iNSIGHT 30 offers a blend of speed and flexibility. The advanced paper handling functionality allows users to simultaneously feed a broad range of document sizes and weights through the system. The scanner's automatic bottom feed pick mechanism allows operators to continuously feed documents and collect document batches in the same order they were scanned. This versatile, cost-effective scanner is supported by Pearson's extensive services organization to ensure maximum uptime and customer satisfaction.

The iNSIGHT 30 scanner joins Pearson's family of scanner systems in 2008. For more information, visit www.pearsondata.com/ or call 800-477-3269.
