PDI Introduces Sani-Cloth® AF3 and Receives Clostridium Difficile Spores Claim Acceptance for EPA-Registered Sani-Cloth® Bleach

Additions Complete Comprehensive Surface Disinfection Line

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. - PDI, the leader in infection prevention education, support, and products in healthcare settings, expands its Sani-Cloth® Germicidal Disposable Wipes product line with the introduction of Sani-Cloth® AF3 Germicidal Disposable Wipe and Sani-Cloth® Bleach Germicidal Disposable Wipes with Clostridium difficile spores. The new products will be introduced at the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) 2012 Conference in San Antonio, Texas, June 4-6, 2012.

Sani-Cloth AF3 is an alcohol and fragrance free quaternary based disinfectant tested effective against 44 microorganisms, including 12 Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms (MDROs) with an overall contact time of three minutes. As an intermediate-level disinfectant, it is in accordance with the Association for Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Recommended Practices for Environmental Cleaning for patients with respiratory conditions such as TB. The alcohol and fragrance-free formula makes it compatible with most healthcare equipment and is ideal for use around patients and staff, especially those with respiratory sensitivities.

EPA-Registered Sani-Cloth Bleach is designed to kill the most clinically relevant pathogens in healthcare. The stabilized 1:10 dilution of sodium hypochlorite is now tested effective against 50 microorganisms, including 14 Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms (MDROs) with an overall contact time of four minutes. It is ideal for disinfecting high risk areas endemic with Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms and Clostridium difficile spores.

"The complexity of today's healthcare delivery system and high acuity of the typical patient requires the use of an environmental surface disinfectant with proven efficacy against a broad spectrum of clinically relevant microorganisms, particularly emerging MDROs and Clostridium difficile spores," said PDI's Senior Director of Clinical Affairs, Hudson Garrett, Jr., PhD. "Both Sani-Cloth AF3 and Sani-Cloth Bleach are intermediate level disinfectants, and therefore exceed the recommended practices and guidelines from the CDC, SHEA, APIC, IDSA, and AORN for disinfection of non-critical items by providing a higher level of disinfection than required ensuring efficacy against Mycobacterium (TB). These products also provide a single, fast overall contact time that ensures users receive the full intended efficacy without the need for multi-contact times while disinfecting shared medical equipment and high touch surfaces."

These recent product advancements complete the PDI Sani-Cloth® Environmental Hygiene portfolio of germicidal wipes for all areas of healthcare facilities, ranging from high-risk to sensitive patient areas, and general everyday use. The full product line has the appropriate mix of aggressive clinically-relevant efficacy claims for the microorganisms of today and tomorrow. It provides users with a broad range of intermediate-level surface disinfectants that are bactericidal, virucidal, tuberculocidal, fungicidal, and now with efficacy against Clostridium difficile spores.

The Sani-Cloth product portfolio also includes Super Sani-Cloth, the most frequently used germicidal wipe in healthcare, which is an alcohol/quaternary based disinfectant effective against 27 microorganisms with a two-minute contact time. Optional dispensing accessories for use with Sani-Cloth products include Sani-Bracket® wall and mobile equipment brackets, Sani-TAG(TM) equipment ID System, and Infection Prevention Pak. These are designed to aid in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements and make surface disinfection more convenient and efficient for staff.

Sani-Cloth is the number one brand of surface disinfecting wipes in healthcare. PDI offers a complete range of infection prevention products for Environmental Hygiene (Sani-Cloth), Skin Antisepsis (Chlorascrub(TM)), Hand Hygiene (Sani-Hands®) and Patient Care (Hygea®), along with education and support to help reduce infection rates, control associated costs and ultimately save lives.
