Hilti FS 411 Firestop System Selector

Eases Firestop System Selection, Puts it in the Palm of Your Hand

TULSA, (Okla.) - February 21, 2005 - With the thousands of individual through-penetration firestop systems available today, identifying systems for specific applications is both difficult and time-consuming. Many web-based firestop system search programs are available to ease this task, but none of them can recommend the best system per application - until now.

The new Hilti FS 411 Firestop System Selector puts firestop system recommendations right into the installer's hand via the use of PalmTM Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). Using the Hilti FS 411 PDA software, which consists of a simple "smart" questionnaire, FS 411 quickly determines all acceptable Hilti firestop system options (based on user inputs), and displays them in order of recommendation (from most to least). The detailed installation instructions, in plain English, then can be viewed for any of the systems.

The FS 411 questionnaire helps prevent confusion by screening out irrelevant questions based on answers to previous questions and helps save time, as all needed information can be input in less than one minute, including wall or floor type, thickness, fire rating, type and subtype of penetrant, minimum and maximum annular space, need for and type of insulation, need for and type of sleeve, and top or bottom access. FS 411's built-in "intelligence" considers ease and typical cost of installation for every suitable firestop system before making recommendations to provide installers of all experience and training levels with excellent, informed choices. Additionally, the selected firestop systems can optionally be saved for later transfer to a computer via HotSync. This allows easy and detailed project record-keeping of every installed firestop system with very little time and effort.
