UTStarcom Personal Communications Launches PC5750: Its Fastest Mobile Broadband Connection Card

PC5750 Maximizes Data Speed Performance: 30 Percent Faster Speeds, Eight Times the Memory Capacity of Previous Models

LAS VEGAS and HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Jan. 10 -- UTStarcom Personal Communications, a division of UTStarcom, Inc. (NASDAQ:UTSI), announced today exclusive U.S. distribution of the PC5750 Mobile Broadband Connection Card -- the fastest and largest-memory-capacity PCMICIA card the company offers. The announcement was made at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) where the PC5750 is currently being exhibited at UTStarcom's booth (# 30306 South Hall 3).

The successor to UTStarcom's hugely popular PC5740, the PC5750 is a dual-band (800/1900 MHz) CDMA2000 1xEV-DO wireless Type II PC card that is designed to allow on-the-go laptop users to make secure wireless connections through their wireless carriers. Outfitted with high-speed EV-DO Revision A technology, the PC5750 is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Mobile computer users can surf the Internet, download data or send and receive e-mails with large attachments at speeds of up to 3.1 Mbps -- 30 percent faster than previously capable. The PC5750 also has a memory capacity of 64 MB Flash / 32 MB RAM that is eight times greater than that of earlier UTStarcom mobile connectivity cards.

In addition to the high-speed advantages offered by the PC5750, the card employs a CDMA wireless technology authentication and identification security system, designed to help assure the integrity of mobile computing functions and data. The Mobile Identification Number (MIN) and Electronic Serial Number (ESN), together with CDMA spread technology, are designed to make it virtually impossible for unauthorized users to capture and decipher information.

"The PC5750 card is an ideal wireless solution for the mobile professional. The days of hunting for a Wi-Fi signal to connect to the Internet are over," said Philip Christopher, president of UTStarcom Personal Communications. "With the PC5750, you can establish a secure wireless connection wherever you find a regular wireless signal -- be it at home, in the office or on the go."

The PC5750 measures (h) 4.6" x (w) 2.1" x (d) 0.2", weighs only 1.8 ounces, and fits into standard PCMCIA slots found on laptop computers, making mobile computing more convenient and efficient. The PC5750 is a wireless broadband card which is designed to enable laptop users in North America to get wireless Internet connection anywhere at anytime (carrier dependent).
