Deva Steps in with New PCI Controller


The Deva 004 PCI Stepper Motor Controller enables the position, speed and acceleration of stepper driven axes to be controlled from a PC compatible computer.

Hardware features include a single 32 bit expansion slot to ensure fast read/write access cycles, 16 opto isolated digital inputs allowing the sensing of switches and sensors around a system such as emergency stop and over-travel switches and 16 opto isolated outputs including 4 servo enable outputs giving the ability to control other devices.

A closed loop controller with PID and velocity feed forward terms, maintains control of axis position by continually monitoring axis position and updating axis speed. Axis speed is set via a 16 bit speed register, axis position is derived from a 24 bit position register. Alternatively, position feedback can be taken from external encoders using an additional Deva 001 encoder card.

OEM's involved with software development will benefit from the comprehensive software support library compatible with Windows 98/2000/ME/XP, Microsoft Visual B and Visual C operating systems. Axis configuration and jogging utilities provide for easy machine setup.

The Deva 004 PCI Stepper Motor Controller enables the position, speed and acceleration of stepper driven axes to be controlled from a PC-compatible computer.

A comprehensive software support package includes libraries and examples for modern rapid application development tools such as Visual Basic and Visual 'C', in which the use and features of the motion control function library are clearly illustrated by example source code. Axis configuration and jogging utilities provide for easy machine setup.

Plug 'n' Play software support for Windows 98/2000/ME/XP and NT4 enables simple installation and automatic configuration of up to 4 controllers supporting a total of 16 axes.

An IO connection kit, 004-PCI-IO-KIT is available containing a 25 way IDC female D connector, on a PC bracket, a 7" cable to a 25 way IDC female header, 25 way male D plug and a 25 way metalised plastic shell. Alternatively, the 004-PCI-IO-UPG-KIT offers the same features as the 004-PCI-IO-KIT but the PC bracket contains an additional unpopulated hole for a 9 way D type. This hole may be used to mount the 4th axis connector to minimise slot usage.
