PCI A/D Board captures data at 600 kHz per channel.

Press Release Summary:

Series PCI-417 handles 16 analog input channels in parallel, with 12-bit A/D resolution. Non-stop streaming design collects gigabytes to memory or disk. Board has 32-bit wide on-board DMA PCI bus master that offloads host CPU. Features include 2 streaming 16-bit analog output D/A channels, 24 bit digital I/O, and local A/D FIFO memory up to 256 Ks to avoid Windows® delays. Models available are: 417K with input range of 0 to +4.096 V, and 417L with ±2.5.

Streaming 600 KHz PCI A/D Board Grabs 16 Channels In Phase

Model PCI-417K/L Features:
- Sixteen 600 KHz analog input channels with 12-bit A/D resolution
- 32-bit wide on-board DMA PCI bus master offloads host CPU
- Non-stop streaming design collects gigabytes to memory or disk
- Local A/D FIFO memory up to 256 Ks avoids Windows® delays
- Windows 98SE/NT/2K/ME/XP "C++" software for programmers
- LabVIEW® VI's plus ActiveX/OCX® controls for Visual BASIC, etc.

Typical Applications:
- Coherent phased-array sensors, X-Y detectors, acoustic and simulation systems
- Sonar directional "beamformers" with no skew delay error between channels
- Robotics, engine testers and multi-sensor platforms

In the search for multi-channel A/D conversion boards, a unique sixteen-channel offering captures all the input samples exactly in parallel. The PCI-417K and PCI-417L from DATEL, Inc. feature simultaneous sampling at up to 600 KHz per channel. The 12-bit A/D output data streams to a local FIFO memory and then out to the PCI bus, offering non-stop collection of gigabytes with no gaps in the data. While sampling, the PCI-417 takes over the PCI bus as a DMA bus master, streaming directly to host memory without burdening the CPU. The two board series differ by their input ranges, 0 to +4.096V for the 417K and ±2.5V for the 417L.

Other on-board resources include a pair of streaming 16-bit analog output D/A channels and 24-bit digital I/O. An on-board programmable frequency synthesizer or crystal-divider sample clock and 24-bit sample counter work together with both analog and digital trigger systems. A unique digital Marker input channel correlates external events to analog phenomena. A full technical data sheet is on DATEL's website at www.datel.com. The board includes CD-ROM software and a comprehensive Users Manual with complete register information.

Programmers Wish List
System developers will rejoice over DATEL's high performance software. Instead of just the usual collection of "blind" function binaries, the fully-commented Visual C++ source code is optionally available (model PC-CDROMS, $395). If you are struggling with a project deadline, it's hard to put too high a value on this. The full working code lets you totally understand how everything works and of course, to custom tune it for your application. Over 50 documented DLL functions also include LabVIEW VI's and ActiveX controls for integration with third party systems. All major Windows versions (98SE, NT, ME, 2K and XP) are supported plus a menued GUI as well as MS-DOS example code and Visual BASIC applications. The software fully exercises the board, saves and displays data and is adaptable for any conceivable application.

Price:
PCI-417L1 or -417K1 board (8 Ks A/D FIFO) - $1895.
PCI-4177L2 or -417K2 board (256 Ks A/D FIFO) - $2195.
North American pricing, quantity 1 to 4. DATEL offers generous quantity discounts.
