Sumitomo Electric's BN700 PcBN Insert Boasts High Wear-Resistance For The Machining of Cast Iron and Powdered Metal

Mount Prospect, IL - (July 29, 2004) Excellent wear-resistance, anti-chipping characteristics and high-hardness combine to make Sumitomo's BN700 PcBN insert ideal for cast iron and powdered metal machining.

Sumitomo is the world leader in CBN. The BN700 consists of the highest CBN content of any Sumitomo grade, resulting in a very hard edge and extreme wear-resistance. In an application example using an induction-hardened P/M gear, the BN700's tool life was 1.5 times longer than that of the competitor's.

For PcBN and PCD, Sumitomo is vertically integrated (from raw to finished product).

BN700 geometries are multi-cornered with numbered edges for ease in indexing. All inserts are manufactured with precision-ground tolerances. Edge preparation choices include wiper, honed and no edge prep.
