Passive Components are designed for DOCSIS 3.1 compliance.

Press Release Summary:

Spanning upstream and downstream transformers/baluns, couplers, and power dividers/combiners, passive components for DOCSIS 3.1-compliant cable TV (CATV) and broadband Internet systems comply with DOCSIS 3.1 standard for high-bandwidth data transfer over existing hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) infrastructure. Bandwidths, insertion loss, return loss, power handling, distortion, and temperature stability characteristics optimize system performance.

MACOM Introduces the Industry's Broadest Portfolio of DOCSIS 3.1 Compliant Passive Components

High-performance transformers, couplers and power dividers/combiners provide system designers with complete toolbox of passives to meet their unique requirements

Lowell, Mass — M/A-COM Technology Solutions Holdings Inc.  (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of high-performance RF, microwave, millimeterwave and photonic products, today announced a comprehensive new portfolio of passive components for DOCSIS 3.1 compliant cable TV (CATV) and broadband Internet systems.

This new product family, spanning upstream and downstream transformers/baluns, couplers and power dividers/combiners, is the industry’s broadest portfolio of passives specifically designed to comply with the DOCSIS 3.1 standard for high-bandwidth data transfer over existing hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) infrastructure. These products have been specifically developed for the next generation of infrastructure head-end and access equipment to be deployed in the cable network plant. This new plant requires very high-performance actives and passives in order to deliver multi-gigabit service to subscribers.  MACOM also offers passives optimized for DOCSIS 3.0 and 3.1 subscriber equipment such as set-top-boxes, home gateways and cable modems.

MACOM’s newest product offerings push the envelope for passive RF component performance. Through extended bandwidths, and improved insertion loss, return loss, power handling, distortion and temperature stability, optimal system performance can be realized.

“The transition to DOCSIS 3.1 is a major development for CATV and broadband Internet providers, enabling them to meet the exponentially growing bandwidth demands and achieve fiber-caliber transmission speeds, while extending the value and longevity of their legacy HFC infrastructure,” said Graham Board, Director Carrier Networks, MACOM. “With the introduction of our new passives portfolio, we’re providing system designers with what we believe to be the widest available breadth of high-performance passive components to meet their unique needs and help them accelerate their time to market with DOCSIS 3.1 compliant systems and solutions.”
