Parvus Corporation to Unveil New Vehicle Logic Unit and Wireless Connection Manager at APTA Rail Conference

Parvus solutions will provide rail transit authorities with greater flexibility to implement new wireless and computing technologies

NEW YORK (APTA Rail Conference Booth# 313) - June 13, 2006 - Parvus Corporation will display the new DuraCOR(TM) 1100 vehicle logic unit and DuraMAR(TM) 1100 wireless connection manager at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Rail Conference held today in New York City.

"The DuraCOR(TM) 1100 and DuraMAR(TM) 1100 are the first of many exciting new products purpose-built to meet the needs of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) market," said Clark Roundy, vice president of sales and marketing for Parvus.

DuraCOR(TM) 1100
The DuraCOR 1000 Vehicle Logic Unit (VLU) is designed for information-level applications aboard road and rail transit vehicles. Purpose-built with ITS integrators and transit agencies in mind, the DuraCOR 1100 enables multiple on-board systems to be connected together for seamless integration and rapid application development.

Combining robust components and compatibility with Linux and Windows XP Embedded software, the DuraCOR(TM) 1100 shortens time-to-market, enables technology to be leveraged to multiple projects and allows agencies to focus on their core business of improving ridership and operational efficiencies.

Standard vehicle features include a smart system monitor with power and thermal sensors, programmable status LED's and an intelligent startup/shutdown system. The 12/24 VDC vehicle power supply offers protection for transients and over-voltage and a Global Positioning System (GPS) is available as a standard option.

DuraMAR(TM) 1100
The DuraMAR(TM) 1100 is a wireless connection manager designed to enable information level applications aboard passenger and freight rail vehicles. Optimized for ITS integrators, transit agencies and rail operators, this network management device can maintain constant application connectivity when traveling through multiple, disparate wireless networks.

Leveraging best-in-class Cisco Systems routing technology, the DuraMAR(TM) 1100 supports the Mobile IP standard for seamless roaming through wireless networks. This wireless agnostic device can interface with most legacy and future data radios. A typical installation would connect onboard applications to the enterprise back-office through public cellular, private VHF/UHF, 802.11, satellite, or any combination thereof.

The DuraMAR also provides the capability to automatically select the optimum route for data flow based on the wireless networks available at any moment in time. Mobile IP functionality provides a persistent interface so wireless network transitions are transparent to sensitive on-board applications. Encryption, authentication and policy routing are standard features used to protect sensitive data from malicious attacks.

Standard vehicle features include a robust power supply system with wide input range, interface and system status LED's, rugged circular connectors and 75W conditioned auxiliary output power for remote radio node modules (Power-over-Ethernet capable). The DuraMAR(TM) is qualified to meet global rail environmental standards.
