Particle Sizer offers quick set-up for field applications.

Press Release Summary:

Vienna U-DMA is used with Condensation Particle Counter to create complete Sequential Mobility Particle Sizer and Counter. Extension kit allows user to change particle size range from 5-350 nm to 10-1100 nm. Remote operation can be via modem, but built-in battery pack, data logging, and auto-reboot facility means that totally independent operation is possible. Automatic self-test operation checks that system is functioning correctly before measurements.

Original Press Release:

Two Particle Sizers in One!

The new Vienna U-DMA from Grimm Aerosol Technic (Ainring, Germany), is the latest in their well-established series of electrostatic classifiers. The U stands for Universal, as this unit comes with an extension kit allowing the user to change the particle size range from 5-350 nm to 10-1100 nm. Developed in collaboration with Prof Reischl's Aerosol Physics Group at the University of Vienna, the Vienna DMA is used with the company's Condensation Particle Counter (CPC) to create a complete Sequential Mobility Particle Sizer and Counter. The complete system weighs less than 30Kg, and can be ready to start taking measurements in only a few minutes from initial set-up, so is ideal for field applications. Remote operation can be via modem, but the Counter's built-in battery pack, data logging and auto-reboot facility means that totally independent operation is also possible. Like many other particle counters, the Grimm CPC uses butanol vapour to make the particles detectable. Over time, particularly when measuring in wet conditions, condensed water vapour can contaminate the butanol and reduce efficiency, so the Grimm CPC has an automatic moisture drain-off to prevent this happening. Furthermore the butanol container is spill-proof, greatly aiding portability. An automatic self test operation checks that the system is functioning correctly before measurements begin.
