Particle Size Analyzers test fertilizer aggregates.

Press Release Summary:

Gradex 2000/3000 particle size testers provide automatic sieve analysis for gradation of material. Samples are loaded into test sieves, machines then classify and weigh each sieve fraction, calculate and store weight values, and report data to PC or controller. Auto-Feed option enables testing of up to 6 samples, and preset test configuration files are available for operator to choose from when setting up tests. Results can be printed in variety of formats.

Fertilizer Manufacturers Increase Harvest through Rotex Gradex Particle Analysis

CINCINNATI, OH (September 15, 2004) - The Rotex Gradex 2000 and Gradex 3000 particle size testers improve fertilizer manufacturing quality control programs by providing reliable, fully automatic sieve analysis for the gradation of material. They lower production costs by reducing the amount of technician time required to perform testing, freeing up technicians to perform other job duties. They also allow you to conduct additional testing without using extra staff.

"Our Gradex unit allows us to conduct quality control testing on fertilizer aggregates in a fraction of the time it took us through other testing methods," says Quality Assurance Manager Dave Miller of Williams Fertilizer, Inc.

Gradex machines duplicate the shaking, brushing, and weighing procedure utilized by manual testing machines, but automate the process quickly and with highly consistent results. Both the Gradex 2000 and Gradex 3000 allow for individual or multiple samples to be loaded in test sieves that can be easily changed to suit specific test requirements. Then the machines automatically classify and weigh each sieve fraction, calculate and store weight values and report the data to a PC or controller. Not only is the entire process much faster, but it virtually eliminates human error from transmitting data. Also, with the Auto-Feed option, technicians can perform other work while up to six samples are tested automatically.

"Particle size uniformity is an important consideration when manufacturing fertilizer," says Dave Miller. "Our Gradex unit makes certain that we maintain accurate SGN and UI values."

The Gradex 2000 and Gradex 3000 are also designed to provide the greatest level of flexibility. Windows based software makes them user friendly and easy to operate by offering preset test configuration files for the operator to choose from when setting up for tests. Test results can also be printed in a variety of standard and customized formats. "When particle size testing is an important part of what you do, you want the most streamlined, efficient process as possible," says Bob Williams, President of Williams Fertilizer, Inc. "Our Gradex unit is not only faster than our previous method, but it's more accurate and has eliminated human error. It's a valuable part of our operation."
