Parallels and Sentillion Join Forces to Address the Costs, Complexity & Performance of Desktop Virtualization Technology

Sentillion Selects Parallels Workstation(TM) as Embedded Virtualization Engine Within vThere(TM) Remote Access Solution

ANDOVER, Mass., Oct. 30 -- Parallels and Sentillion vBusiness, a division of Sentillion, Inc., today announced they have entered into a strategic partnership designed to address the costs, complexities and performance of desktop virtualization technology and to radically improve the end user experience. As part of the agreement, Sentillion vBusiness, which leverages virtualization technology to support its server-less approach to remote access, will embed Parallels Workstation for Windows(TM) into its vThere(TM) offering. The companies are also committed to the co-development of future products and leveraging their respective sales channels and participation in cooperative marketing activities.

"Through this partnership, Sentillion vBusiness and Parallels have created a packaged enterprise-class virtualized client-side computing solution, which eliminates the challenges and complexities currently associated with the deployment of a virtualized computer to non-technical users," said Paul Roscoe, president, Sentillion vBusiness. "For the enterprise market, vThere represents a new paradigm for the adoption of desktop virtualization technology by enabling a simple, integrated and seamless experience for both IT professionals and end users."

Remote workers, including teleworkers, branch office employees, contractors, business partners, or temporarily displaced employees, require access to corporate applications and corporate data in order to be productive. This presents serious technology and security challenges because the IT department has the added responsibility of deploying and managing remote desktops, while also trying to navigate the complex security challenges associated with remote access into the enterprise. Sentillion's vThere solution is designed to help organizations overcome these challenges in a simple, cost-effective and secure manner.

vThere leverages virtualization technology to enable users to run a contained, controlled and fully functional software environment in a virtualized desktop on computers in remote venues such as a home or branch office. This approach is a powerful alternative to traditional remote access solutions. vThere consists of the vThere(TM) Image Creator, which is used by IT departments to create distributable vThere(TM) images; the vThere(TM) Player, used for playing the images on the end-user host computers; and vthere.net/, a managed Web site for users to obtain and download their images securely.

"One of the key benefits of vThere is how simple it is for our customers to administer and for end users to deploy on their unmanaged personal computers," said David Fusari, vice president and CTO, Sentillion vBusiness. "By integrating Parallels' virtualization technology into our vThere offering, our customers receive a one-stop enterprise class packaged virtualization solution with the levels of security, manageability and usability they demand."

Already widely famous in the consumer market for building Parallels Desktop for Mac, the first solution that lets Mac users run Windows and OS X simultaneously on a single Intel-powered Apple, this partnership solidifies Parallels place as an enterprise-class solution provider.

"This relationship leverages Parallels' proven leadership in building powerful, user-friendly virtualization solutions with, and Sentillion's unmatched expertise in delivering enterprise-class solutions and infrastructure support," said Benjamin Rudolph, marketing manager, Parallels. "We're thrilled to work with Sentillion to provide enterprises large and small with the managed virtualization solutions they need to take their businesses to the next level."

Pricing & Availability

Integration efforts have already commenced and will be available in the next version, vThere 2.0, slated for release at the end of November 2006. Pricing for Sentillion's vThere solution is $125 per user. The vThere image creator toolkit is $795 per administrator workstation
