Panasonic Launches SD Video Camera Series Equipped with 30 GB HDD for Longer Recording Time

Panasonic, the leading global manufacturer of consumer electronics, has announced the Middle East launch of a series of SD video cameras - SDR H250, SDR H21 & SDR H20 - that support SD/SDHC memory cards as a recording medium and incorporate a 30 GB hard disc drive (HDD), with a storage capacity that is approximately 22 times as large as that of a single DVD.

The SDR-H250 is provided with a 3CCD camera system that has an established reputation as professional broadcast apparatus, Panasonic's unique Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.), and Leica Dicomar Lens.

The O.I.S. is also provided to the SDR-H21/H20, a super-telescopic model incorporating a 32x optical zoom function. Both the models record on SD/SDHC memory cards, which do not require driving mechanisms, thus ensuring extremely high reliability. The 30GB HDD, which enables continuous video recording for up to 27 hours, is equipped with anti-shock shields including a drop detect function, thus minimizing the influence of external shock on video recording data and realizing long-time, stable video recording. Both models are also provided with a 512MB SD memory card.

"With the 30GB HDD in the new series of cameras, users can keeping recording without worrying about running out of disk space. These cameras are ideal for recording events that run for a long time and also during journeys and holidays. Moreover, with features like the Optical Image Stabiliser, Leica Dicomar Lens and the 3CCD camera system, users can be assured of high quality video output in various shooting conditions," said Yasuo Kimoto, Product Manager, Panasonic Marketing Middle East.

Unlike tape or DVD recording media, the HDD in LP mode enables continuous video recording for up to 27 hours without additional recording media. The video recording data can also be copied to PCs or DVD writers over the USB cable.

In a 3CCD camera system, the light received through the lens is split into its three primary colour components (red, green and blue), and the signal from each is processed by one of the three CCDs. Compared with conventional 1CCD camera systems, Panasonic's 3CCD system provides more vivid, true-to-life colours, greater detail and richer gradation.
