Panasonic Introduces New Fixed-Installation LCD Projectors

New PT-F100U, PT-F100NTU and PT-FW100NTU Deliver Advanced Technologies for Outstanding Brightness, Built-In Wireless Connectivity, and Cost Savings

SECAUCUS, N.J., March 13 /- Panasonic Projector Systems Company, Unit of Panasonic Corporation of North America, today announced the debut of three new LCD projectors that are optimal for cost-effective fixed- installation. The new PT-F100U and PT-F100NTU projectors and their widescreen sibling, the PT-FW100NTU, provide long-lasting brightness and features that reduce installation and maintenance costs. The "NTU" models have built-in wireless and wired network capability(1). All models will debut on March 15th at the National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) Expo in Orlando, Florida (booth # 1543).

The three projectors have cost-cutting features that are particularly beneficial given the fact that many institutions have faced dwindling budgets in recent years. The models' vertical and horizontal lens shift and 2x powered zoom features help reduce installation costs by allowing the projectors to be placed close to an A/C power source and/or a wired network connection. Administrators avoid the expense of installing new A/C or network connections and the potential difficulty of complying with building code regulations. All models also help maintain maximum brightness and reduce maintenance costs due to dust build-up with an Auto Rolling Filter (ARF), an electrostatic filter technology that automatically detects and removes filter sections that have accumulated excessive dust.

"Our engineers have worked very hard to address the economic and design needs of the fixed installation market," said Thomas Zitelli, president of Panasonic Projector Systems Company. "We know that the keys to meeting those needs are flexibility of positioning in the room, low maintenance, and high reliability. We've delivered on all of those items plus great picture quality with our new F100 series."

The PT-FW100NTU and PT-F100NTU models come equipped with a wireless local- area network (WLAN) capability that allows them to connect to multiple PCs without any cables. Businesses and educators do not need to connect the projector to a router or a wide area network, and can control up to 16 different projectors simultaneously. Both models can stream video and support wired LAN connection (PJLink(TM) compatible), which allows remote control, maintenance monitoring, and e-mail alert messaging functions through a Web browser.

To maintain top performance, Panasonic's ARF keeps the new projectors nearly dust-free by winding a dusty section of the filter into a casing and replacing it with a clean section. In addition, a re-engineered airflow path combines with a hermetic, dust-free optical system design to ensure that the air inside the cabinet remains clean. These technologies and design innovations also work together to minimize any brightness loss due to dust accumulation.

Installing the new projectors on a ceiling or shelf is easy thanks to the models' 2x powered zoom and lens shift features, which make the models ideal replacement projectors. The models also employ a new lamp and lamp drive system to help ensure maximum brightness is maintained for 3,000 - 5,000 hours, depending on the installation environment.

The PT-F100U and PT-F100NTU models deliver 3,200 lumens of brightness, while the PT-FW100NTU outputs 3,000 lumens. All three models incorporate Panasonic's Daylight View 3 functionality that optimizes color, brightness and contrast for the ambient lighting condition in the room. The PT-FW100NTU uses a wide 1,280 x 800 LCD panel that is ideal for viewing popular widescreen content. It also has a Side by Side function that allows users to project two large frames of 4:3 content at the same time from any two distinct sources (i.e., PC's, DVD/CD players and VCRs) at once except two computers.

The projectors come equipped with closed caption capability to meet the needs of the hearing-impaired, facilitate ADA compliance, and for use in applications where it is desirable to deliver program content without audio. All the models also offer a host of standard features, including direct power off, rear-access for easy lamp replacement, numerous connection terminals, and an easy-to-use remote control with a laser pointer.

The Panasonic PT-F100U and PT-F100NTU projectors will be available at the end of April, and the PT-FW100NTU is expected to ship in June of this year. All three projectors will be available at authorized presentation systems dealers. MSRP is expected to be $5,999 for PT-FW100NTU, $5,599 for PT- F100NTU, and $5,299 for PT-F100U.
