Automated Assemblies to Introduce New Raptor® High Performance Packaging Robot at NPE 2006

Cost-Saving Robotic Workcell Solution Adds Flexibility For Packaging and Thin Wall Injection Molded Parts

CLINTON, MA (February 8, 2006) Automated Assemblies Corporation, a leading US designer and manufacturer of robots and workcell solutions for the plastics injection molding industry, will introduce an addition to its popular Raptor® advanced technology product line at NPE (Booth #1576).

The new Raptor ® 3000-HP High Performance Top Entry Robot, with single and double vertical arm configurations for injection molding presses from 200 tons up to 800 tons, benefits molders in that it gives them more flexibility by enabling them to operate 3-plate and stack molds in large presses without dedicated automation equipment.

Features of the new top entry robot include a dry cycle take-out time of less than 0.5 seconds and an overall cycle time of less than 5.0 seconds - with a payload capacity of 10kg (22 lbs.) per vertical arm. This gives the Raptor 3000-HP Robot the highest payload-to-performance ratio available in the industry. Ultra-lightweight carbon fiber vertical arm and end of arm tooling components plus the patented InteliMotion(TM) dynamic Raptor motion control combine to deliver responsive and repeatable part handling of molded parts.

The Raptor 3000-HP Robot is available with an extended horizontal "reach" axis up to 1500mm (59 inches) and double vertical axes, each with a stroke of up to 1400mm (55 inches). A uniquely designed high-flow vacuum and positive pressure blow-off system provides the utilities need for fast cycle times and positive part handling.

Company officials note that the Raptor 3000-HP Robot was developed by in response to requests by injection molders to increase flexibility to operate 3-plate and stack-molds in large presses without dedicated - and costly -- automation equipment. Sold under the Raptor name, the Raptor 3000-HP Robot is easy to install and operate, and is available integrated with an IML/IMD Workcell or Thin- Wall Packaging System. As with all Raptor products, the industry's' most user-friendly "drag and drop" icon based programming on a large color touch screen is standard. Multiple camera Raptor Vision(TM) is available as an option.

Automated Assemblies Corporation designs and manufactures advanced technology workcells and application-specific robotic solutions including vision inspection, part packaging, insert molding and IML/IMD. What separates AAC from competitors is customer support that begins with the understanding of the initial challenges facing plastics processors, and continues beyond the life cycle of molded products.
