Original Press Release:

Exact-fit Replacement Design of New Champion® Packaged Heat Pump Reduces Installation Time and Incorporates Smart Controls

MILWAUKEE – The Champion brand of Johnson Controls introduces a new exact-fit packaged heat pump. This newest addition to the Champion Direct Replacement rooftop solution features advanced controls and an optional Mobile Access Portal (MAP) Gateway and Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD), making it the industry’s easiest replacement solution to install and maintain.

The heat pump’s exact-fit replacement design matches footprints of other manufacturers’ units and reduces installation time, cost and complexity by eliminating the need for a curb adapter. Available in 3- to 8.5-ton capacities, the heat pump uses Simplicity Smart Equipment (SE) Controls, which make system setup, optimization and monitoring far easier than older, electromechanical controls. This next generation control system is a standard feature on all gas/electric, electric/electric and heat pump packaged and commercial split system configurations.

Access to the SE control system via a smartphone, tablet or remote PC is available with an optional MAP Gateway.  The heat pump also offers optional FDD, which saves contractors time by providing detailed alerts if issues arise, and quick ship options improve product availability.

Additional features of the new heat pumps include adjustable defrost and three heat capacities, two cabinet heights and footprint sizes and a choice of cooling or electric heat configurations.
